The Syrian Bride
Mona, a young Druze woman from Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, is preparing to marry Tallel, a television actor living in Damascus whom she has never met. Crossing into Syria will mean leaving her family permanently. As relatives gather for the wedding, old disputes resurface. Her father, Hammed, struggles to accept the return of his estranged son Hattem and his Russian wife, while Mona's sister Amal faces resistance to her wish to study at university. After the celebrations, the family accompanies Mona to the border, where a dispute over her travel documents prevents her from crossing. As Israeli and Syrian officials argue over the paperwork, Mona waits between the two sides, facing an uncertain future.
